Months ago, someone told me that they found a substantial section on anime in a guide to teaching autistic children. Of all places, I wondered, why there? As it turns out, many autistic children like anime because the facial expressions and gestures are easy to understand. For people with autism, who normally have immense trouble reading the emotions of others, anime characters are a way for them to participate in a social arena that the rest of us hardly think about. – 2-D Teleidoscope
