This is so going to make me unpopular: On selling out, professionally, about licensed anime and manga.

Ok, so my last post about MangaViews.com may have rubbed people the wrong way. I’m afraid that if I’m going to get anywhere in the blogosphere at all, I’m going to have to enter some minefields. One of the biggest minefields I’ve skirted with in my blogging career wasn’t actually the Screen Play entry where I attempted a proposal for a video game designed to teach dating social skills to socially disabled people, nor was it the ever controversial anti-twincest post I made for personal reasons but had to deal with a bunch of comments from twincest fangirls where I understood where they were coming from but I still didn’t agree with them.

The Content Crunch of the Fall 2009 Anime Season, and what to do about it.

TheGraduate

First of all, I’ve never really been able to cover anime seasons while they currently air because of my HSC, and now that that’s over, I am a Graduate lacking a Mrs. Robinson. For those of you who don’t know what I mean by that joke, rent The Graduate, it has Dustin Hoffmann in it for crying out loud. HE RULES.

Thought of the Day: My blogging about autistic anime fandom was relevant all along?

clannad-02

Months ago, someone told me that they found a substantial section on anime in a guide to teaching autistic children.  Of all places, I wondered, why there?  As it turns out, many autistic children like anime because the facial expressions and gestures are easy to understand.  For people with autism, who normally have immense trouble reading the emotions of others, anime characters are a way for them to participate in a social arena that the rest of us hardly think about.2-D Teleidoscope

Writer’s Thoughts: A Guide To Notebooks

death-note-book

I’ve been writing novels and short stories since I was sixteen, but until now I never really thought about using a notebook to write down my ideas for future reference as a stream of consciousness exercise, keeping my brain from being flooded with all these ideas I get all the time at inconvenient moments.

A Special Treat For My Reader Homies

rod_yomiko008

Some of you have been wondering “What the hell kinda books does NewGeekPhilosopher/Jacob Martin write anyway?”. Well, when I was younger, this book, Small Worlds: A Miscellany was published with Lulu.com when I was trying to make a name for myself. So far, three people have bought this book, which makes the exercise a (very small) success. What is Small Worlds: A Miscellany anyway?

So my twin brother is home for the holidays, and this time he might actually acknowledge I exist. Currently I’m helping him play Zelda: Phantom Hourglass on my DS while I sit at my computer writing.

Feeling under the weather

136673ea5c2f1546ff2071ececd8c21c

Ok, so I got checked out at the hospital, and my cold/flu turned out not to be swine flu. I’ve been sick for about two days now, and the delirious dreams I’ve been having are getting weird.

Sorry I haven’t been able to update the blog much this week, I have been rather ill and the dreams where I get accosted by Oompa Loompas are not helping.

I’m just posting this to let you know where I am and why I haven’t been posting for a while, I will try and post more after this cold breaks.
