With this shameless bishie attempt to win a female audience, I bring you an update on what’s going down.
Many of you who bother reading my blog (God bless you, every one, this Christmas) have been wondering why I haven’t done any real Anime reviews for a while. Well there’s a simple answer to that, real life happened and I started writing novels and illustrating them again for the first time in weeks. My muse is back, and she used frequent flyer miles at no cost to me.
Anyway, since my blogging style here is slightly different to most episodic Anime blogs, this post is going to be different too. Firstly:
If you’ve been in touch with Baka-Raptor please ask him if his family is doing well despite the Mumbai attacks in Baka-Raptor’s ancestral nation of India. I’ve done so, and he appreciated it. In fact, why not give him a comment on his latest post about the Mahabharata? It’s less culturally insensitive than sending him a Christmas card I guess.
Stephen Fry has followed me on Twitter, making him one of the first celebrities in any way shape or form to be interested in my online social networking. Stephen Fry is a champion of modern technology despite the fact that he is over 30, defying stereotypes that old people can’t use a computer. He was also pretty good in A Bit of Fry and Laurie and I liked his book The Ode Less Travelled.
Like Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, or even the original game? Well lucky for you, you can now enjoy its soundtrack in a Fan Made remix which you can download for free legally, but not only that they Capcom used this soundtrack in the actual game! I’ve been listening to it and it’s sure catchier than the techno rubbish they play in clubs and bars in my opinion.
Most of you may have heard I won the Playstation 3 in the Your Turn competition at SMH Screen Play Blog. Well for one day me and my brother decided to… ahem… “test it out to see if it wasn’t broken” before we wrapped it up for my Christmas present.
How does the PS3 fare in terms of gameplay and usability? Now that I’ve actually tried it I have an actual opinion on the matter. Basically it’s a lot simpler to set up than my bro’s Wii, but it doesn’t come with HDMI cables. I didn’t get the chance to figure out what cables did come with it before I wrapped it up, so I won’t find out until I unwrap it on Christmas Day.
But how does it run? No lag so far, certainly less frustrating than PC gaming. The prize bundle came with Resistance 2 and Motorstorm: Pacific Rift. Resistance 2 is something akin to a War of the Worlds post-apocalyptic past set in the 1950s, but it’s certainly not the same 1950s from Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. If you hide in a fridge in these 1950s a nuclear bomb will still kill you. And what’s the deal with the Kraken monsters, that look like they got lost from the Pirates of the Caribbean sequels?
Motorstorm: Pacific Rift is interesting, but at the same time it reminds me of those Truckasaurus ads and monster truck rally commercials they had on in the 90s before the economy crumbled and they can’t afford to fuel the big rigs no more. Think Mad Max set on a Pacific island, only with racing instead of car chases and brutality. But leave the brutality in, Speed Racer, the original Anime, not the recent movie version, also springs to mind. The cars are so big and absurd they’re almost cartoonish. And that is why I love this game, it’s like Speed Racer with monster trucks with a little Mad Max thrown in.
Very well, have a nice day while I take a nap.

Glad to hear you’re well (and being visited by your Muse!)
@IKnight: In Australia, first you get the money, then you get the power, then you get the MUSES.
Although Christmas cards might be culturally insensitive, I do accept Christmas presents.
